A New Year in Lisbon, and a Plug for Mobile Multibody Dynamics

Rachel and I have arrived in Portugal to start our first week as digital nomads in Europe as we launch our respective businesses. This is a familiar locale to us as it has been our hub for several years since the creation of a direct flight on TAP from Dulles. Yesterday we arrived and took in a couple of our favorite miradouros, a couple cervejas, and a pastel de nata. Today we had … pastel de nata … and took the train to Cascais, stopping at the Estoril train station, walking along the coast to the Boca Inferno, and back to enjoy some hot wine and moules (mussels).

Getting back to business, Mobile Multibody Dynamics, or MOMDYN, is not the first app that I developed, but is the one that represents my greatest investment of time. As a professional myself, I used a few different mechanism simulation software packages (SimScape Multibody and SIMPACK in particular), which are excellent, user friendly, and powerful to a highly trained engineer who wants to maximize their analytical potential. There are a few common threads amongst these, however, which is that they are expensive (from the perspective of an individual, not necessarily to an enterprise), and they are only available in desktop computing environments. With MOMDYN, my vision is a simulation app that you can pick up whenever creativity strikes.

As an intro, below is a preview video from our YouTube page. It’s been a while since I’ve uploaded an update there, but that will change soon as I take more time in developing it as a viable product. If you care to try it out, MOMDYN is on the App Store and Google Play. Make sure to leave a good review!

We’re off to go see what Lisbon is like on New Years Eve. We’ll be here until January 6, stay tuned for more updates on where we end up next.
